COMMEMORATIVE RINGS
With our brand-new and fascinating Commemorate Ring Collection, you can now design the ideal sterling silver band to honor your family's history and enhance your own style, whether it's a pinky ring or a wearable timeless classic.

Conceptualized by Jeffrey Campbell, a direct descendant of an ancestor in the 78th Regiment, each ring is constructed from sterling silver and is designed by you to memorialize your personal connection to Colonel Simon Fraser and his soldiers, who fought from 1757-1763 in North America and assisted in liberating Canada during the French and Indian War!

Handmade in the U.S.A. from .925 half-hard, half-round sterling silver, the inner band of each ring is meticulously engraved with 8k resolution technology, to ensure your family's memories last a lifetime. Each sterling silver band measures 4mm in height, and includes a recommend font size of 2mm tall.

During our free design process, as we begin outlining how the inner band of your new ring will be engraved, please understand that there are constraints on the number of characters allowed, depending on the font you've selected and the final ring size ordered. There is only so much real estate to work with. However, we will, nevertheless, work with you to overcome any limitations to ensure you're 100 percent satisfied before you decide to purchase.

Contact us today and let's begin designing a ring that you and your family will truly be proud of!

Overview
After a long and strenuous six-month recruiting period, and marching over 600 miles from North Britain to Cork Harbour, Ireland, on June 30, 1757, Colonel Fraser and his newly raised Highland Battalion set sail on their transport ships under the convoy of HMS Enterprize, a 50-gun Man of War first commissioned for the British Navy on May 16, 1719, under her maiden name HMS Norwich, for Halifax Harbour, Nova Scotia, in North America. Commanding this voyage was Captain John Donkley, a veteran sailor who guided his crew and convoy over the course of 60 days across the North Atlantic Ocean!

About the map:
In consulting the official Journal of Captain Donkley, we were able to reconstruct the transatlantic voyage, placing small daily markers along the charted route. Originally thinking the captain would have taken the shorter northern route across the Atlantic, imagine our surprise to learn the exact opposite transpired with a layover in the Portuguese region of the Azores (or Western Island) and most likely an opportunity to restock with fresh water, fruits, and vegetables and perhaps conduct some trading with the locals.

Please understand that while HMS Enterprize arrived in Halifax Harbour on August 29, 1757, three of Colonel Fraser's nine transport ships (AnnCecilia, and Myrtilla) lost sight and separated from the main convoy on the evening of August 21, 1757, arriving to port a few days later. Additionally, it should be noted that, due to the complexity of shorthand abbreviations recorded in the logbook, we were only able to track HMS Enterprize to a point about 50 miles southwest of Halifax Harbour through August 20, 1757, nine days short of her official arrival. We think the delay in her arrival was two-fold: Admiral Holburne's fleet of ships were in the area and most likely took priority, and HMS Enterprize would have also been waiting for an official port harbourmaster to guide her in safely.

This map is suitable for printing and framing, and we found it's best to have it printed at your local office supply store on blueprint-type paper, then have it custom framed should you choose. If printing, in order to properly view the ship's daily markers on the map, we recommend ordering 48 in. in width, which will yield approximately 34 in. in height; any smaller printing dimension may produce unsatisfactory results. If you discover your computer struggling to properly render the map in your preferred image viewer, we recommend trying a free image viewer from Faststone.org. Be sure to click the free download link above to get started, and we hope you enjoy this map as much as we do! And please contact us with any printing or viewing questions you may have.

Overview
Over the years, there have been countless thoughts expressed regarding the specific sett worn as part of the uniform by Colonel Fraser's men in North America. And the simple explanation for this is because documentation delineating the patterns worn has never been discovered - ever. And it's been nearly 260 years since the disestablishment of his Regiment.

In late-2017, this historian set out in hopes of finally putting these claims to rest once and for all. A monumental task, one might think, considering the most knowledgeable military scholars have unsuccessfully attempted the same - for decades, mind you. For centuries!

Find out how we identified one particular Scottish clothing manufacture in all of Great Britain with connections to the 42d Foot (Black Watch), and review the evidence offered on his potential connection to all three Highland Regiments - then, you make the decision if we've located our Scottish weaver, and the sett worn! Overview
Discharged from the 78th Regiment in 1763, William Campbell (a.k.a., Alexander William Campbell, William the Scotsman, or Guillaume L'Ecossais) continued service with the 15th Foot, where he was discharged at Montreal 24 June 1767. He and his partner, Marie Josephte Chartier, remained in the area of La Prairie, Quebec, and continued to raise their family of seven children for many years.

This document analyzes the raising of the fourteenth company in the 78th Regiment of Foot (the final company) for service in the British Army in North America during the period from 1759 to 1763, with emphasis on potential residential locations in Scotland for William’s family at that time. It carefully examines through several factors (family DNA results, and William’s potential proximity to regimental recruiting officers) if adequate evidence exists to support which area of the country his family was originally from, and if he most likely enlisted in the army in 1759 rather than 1757 with the main body of Colonel Fraser’s Battalion as previously assumed. Overview
As the 63rd Regiment of Foot initially departed Cork, Ireland, in the summer of 1757, 40 men remained behind: 15 struck with sickness, and 25 supernumerary men predominately from North Uist. Their escort, Captain Donald McDonald of the regiment, was assigned by Commanding Officer Colonel Simon Fraser to transport his men to New York, along with a small contingency of men from their sister battalion, Colonel Montgomery's 62nd Regiment. They ultimately arrived in December of 1757.

Truly a fascinating document for anyone interested in these Highland battalions from Scotland, this manuscript, transcribed from the original documents, contains names of the soldiers, years of age, personal features (including height and complexion), in most cases, birthplace, and also their civilian trade.

Overview
Newspaper accounts of over 1350 military soldiers who intentionally fled from their units across Great Britain from 1726-59. The details provided in these articles include the name of the accused, age, personal features, in many cases birthplace, and any additional attributes the issuing regimental agents thought necessary to include in the articles. The supplied accounts remain unchanged (they're transcribed as they appear in the original newspapers), and it is with the greatest of hope that the reader will find this era, the eighteenth century, to be among the most fascinating of times in British military history. Full name index included; PDF searchable.
